In the growing community of Crosby, Texas, the Cedar Pointe Pool Pavilion was envisioned as more than a utility structure. It serves as the neighborhood pool pavilion and includes restrooms, a pool pump equipment room, storage, and other essential support spaces for daily operations.

The main entry from the parking lot guides residents beneath a broad aluminum canopy, creating a natural and welcoming transition into the pool area. This covered passage offers protection from the elements while intentionally directing visitors toward the pool beyond.

Beneath the canopy, shaded tables and chairs provide relief from the intense Texas summer, allowing families to gather comfortably before and after swimming. Adjacent to this space, a crushed gravel seating area supports casual gatherings. At night, festoon lighting overhead transforms the area into a warm setting for evening events and socializing. Just steps away, a children’s playground adds another layer of activity, allowing families to enjoy multiple amenities within one cohesive space.

The Design

The pavilion design developed quickly by building upon a previous concept that already incorporated the client’s requested program elements. With the overall layout established early, the primary refinement focused on sizing the outdoor patio to accommodate picnic tables for residents, ensuring the space could support both everyday use and small gatherings.

The structure embraces simplicity and durability. Constructed primarily of CMU block with horizontal siding that reflects the surrounding neighborhood’s architectural character, the building provides a strong, low maintenance foundation suited to the climate. A self-draining aluminum roof canopy serves as the defining feature, offering shade and weather protection while guiding circulation from the parking lot to the pool.
